When is the Right Time to Start?
When Do You Begin Something New?
This is a spot where I have seen people Struggle over the Years.
Starting.
I Understand.
We Live in a World that Constantly Tells Us that We are Not Enough.
That we Need More.
That there are Things we Do Not Understand.
Understanding when to "Go" is Confusing.
We Plan.
Then Plan.
And do More Planning.
But When Do You Go?
Let me tell you a Story about Today and it will Reveal the Answer.
My Grandfather Recently Passed Away.
When he Died, I wrote an Article called "The Passing".
It was about his Life and how he Impacted me.
But it was also about the Passing of Time and Legacies.
My Grandmother read the Article, and she Loved it.
She Asked me to Read it during my Grandfather's Celebration of Life Ceremony.
I agreed.
Between then and Today, the Day of the Ceremony, I have been Processing my Emotions.
I have been Practicing Speaking it Out Loud.
I Knew I would be Emotional, but I Felt Confident I would mostly keep myself together well.
Then I got in front of our Family and Friends.
I began to Speak.
The Emotions began to Push Through Me in Such Sharp Precision.
It was like getting Hit by a Truck.
I Prepared, but I Could Not Prepare for how the Emotions came into Contrast "In" the Moment.
This is a lot of How Life Works.
We Plan.
We Prepare.
We Think We "Know" What The Moment Will Be Like.
But the Truth is We Don't.
I Speak in Front of Audiences as a part of My Career.
I "Know" How to Play Into Emotions.
I "Know" How To Handle a Stage.
Yet in "This" Moment, There was "Nothing" I Could Do to Fully Prepare.
There's Nothing I Could have Done.
Life is Often Like This.
The Athlete goes through Practices to Prepare.
But the Practice Field is Nothing like being in front of Thousands of Fans.
The Entrepreneur prepares their Pitch.
But the Practice is Nothing like the Conversation with a Potential Client.
The Leader Prepares Conversations with their Teams.
But the Plan is Nothing like Facing the Humans and the Emotions they Carry.
You can Plan.
But the Plan only gets you So Far.
The Reality of Life is that You "Must" Start because You Do Not "Know" what things will be like "Until" You are "In" them.
You can Plan and Plan and Plan.
You can Prepare Backup Plans and Backups to the Backups of the Backups.
But the Reality of a Situation will "Always" have Variables You will Never Predict.
Variables that You Can Never take Into Account.
Until you are "In" the Moment.
Will You Fail?
Likely.
But Failure is a Requirement to Success.
Will Your Plan Miss Aspects?
Absolutely.
But the Plans can be Improved Once You "Understand" the Real Variables.
Will Your Emotions Become Far More Real than you could Anticipate?
Yes.
Many People's Emotions Completely Take Over in the Moment.
Yet, this is the Only Path to the Goal.
You Must Go "Through" The Reality.
Until You "Face" Reality, You Are Stuck.
You may Build and Grow Plans, but Plans Alone Achieve Nothing.
Until You Move Into Reality.
Until You Face the Situations.
Only by Starting do you Begin to Move Forward.
A Business Cannot Succeed without Action.
A Leader Cannot Succeed without Working with People in Reality.
Theory is Never Enough.
There is a Breakdown that "Will" Happen in the Theory.
The Only Way to Overcome the Breakdown is to Move Beyond Theory.
This Is Why You Must Start.
Starting is the Only Way to Discover the "True" Path Forward.
Until You Start, You are Blind.
Until You Start, You Are Stuck.
By Starting, the Path to Success becomes Revealed.
So Start.
