There are a lot of people I speak with who have a Goal of Success.
However, few of those individuals are making True Progress toward their Goals.
When I speak with them, they have Goals that are Truly Amazing, and which they are Very Dedicated to.
Yet, they seem to be Stuck.
Often, they are Seeking the Best Path Forward to Success, and ask me what I think of their Ideas.
But there is a Singular Problem that I see, and it is Unconscious.
Let me restate what they are looking for, and you can see if you can find the Unconscious Problem that is Underlying it.
"...Seeking the Best Path Forward to Success..."
Can you see it?
The Unconscious Problem is the Idea that there is a "Best Path".
Why is this a Problem?
There is No Such Thing as a "Best Path".
No Path that Any of Us Ever Go Down will be the "Best", or "Perfect", or any other adjective describing the same concept.
That is the Truth that is Standing in the Way.
So often, People get Stuck from making any Progress because, Subconsciously, they are Hoping For and Seeking a "Best" Path.
Some form of Mythical Road where all their Problems are Solved a Decade Ago, and where they will Never Experience Stress Again, Gaining All the Riches of the Multiverse, and becoming Supreme Leader of Everything.
Perhaps their Goals are Not "That" Lofty, but the Problem still exists that there is No "Best" Path to Success toward Any Goal.
Why?
Well, let's start with the first Reality - We are All Human.
This means that by Nature, we are Limited in what we can Know at Any Given Moment.
Let's think about it like this...
You are on a Trail, and before you, there is a Split in the Road.
One Path looks beautiful and serene, and it appears to go exactly straight to the destination you are going to.
The other Path appears to go into some dark foliage that looks a bit challenging, but "technically" still passable, but it also appears to go in the wrong direction.
Which Path is the "Best" Path to get to the Destination?
Well, you might be tempted to say that the Serene Path is, and you may be so excited that you begin to Sprint to your Destination...
Only to discover that there is a ledge that you Sprinted Off of in your Haste!
The Path appeared well walked and serene because many people Go To It, but only to "Look" at the Destination from the edge of the cliff, none of them ever "Getting" to the Place.
The other Path, however, though a bit trickier from a technical standpoint, goes in the other direction to "avoid" the cliff drop, and to go through a Path that, eventually, will Lead to the Destination.
In this scenario, the Paths look one way because there is Information that we do not have available to us yet.
This is often how Life Works, with the Paths we are looking at in the Goal of Success.
We think that "this" Path "Must" be the "Best", only to discover that it Doesn't Work as we Imagined.
This leads most people to Quit because what they "Thought" was the Best was in Reality not what they Hoped due to their limited ability to See as Humans.
However, if we look for a different Path, even if not the "Best" Looking, it can often be Better than we Imagined.
Another aspect to Consider that goes with this is How Humans Grow.
Do we Grow from an "Easy", "Serene", or "Stress-Less" Path?
No.
We Do Not.
In Reality, Humans end up Growing from things that are Difficult, Tumultuous, and Stress-Full (at least to a point).
Often, Progress and Success require us to Grow, and so the Path we must follow may be filled with things that "Are" Challenging.
When we are Imagining a "Best" Path, we usually are not Consciously Considering Challenges that can help us Grow as Necessary, but they "Are" Necessary.
This means that Difficult Paths are Necessary for Progress, and we Unconsciously Miss the Growth Opportunities in Pursuit of an Imagined "Best".
This is why many people say that Most People Overestimate what they can Accomplish in One Year, but Underestimate what they can Accomplish in Ten Years.
When we are thinking about a "Best", we are unconsciously using Short-Term Thinking toward a Goal based on our Current Size.
Our Size Today is Relatively Small to our Potential Size Ten Years from Now due to Growth.
If we Grow Enough, the Goals we have Today will often seem Minuscule to the Goals we can Grow Into over Time.
What we must Understand is that there is No Singular "Best" Path to Anything.
All Paths can be Turned Into "Something" that creates Progress through Growth.
With enough Growth and Progress, we eventually reach Success.
