Why We Are Failing To Create Leaders - Addressing The Leadership Deficit And Where The Problems Stem From

There is No Denying the Truth.

We have a Leadership Deficit in Today's World.

There has been an Outcry from Employees, Businesses, Teams, and Organizations for New Leaders to Create the Future for Decades.

Yet, we still find that Leadership Development Programs Completely Fail 80% of the Time, with "Limited" Success the rest of the time.

Organizations seek Innovation, Creative Problem Solving, and Better Productivity, and yet Fail to Attain them.

But Why is that?

Why is it that we continually Fail to Produce the New Leaders we Desperately Need?

Plus, Why have our Current Leaders Fallen so Dramatically in the Opinions of Employees and Organizations?

Over 50% of Employees Trust "Complete Strangers" more than their Leaders.

Over 80% of Organizations Believe their Current Leaders are Ineffective.

Over 80% of Organizations "Expect" there to be "Fewer" Good Leaders in the Future.

How can we be Failing this Horribly?

Well, it comes down to a few simple Realities.

The First Aspect to look at is that most of Today's Leaders Fail to Optimize their Stress and the Stress of their Teams.

How do I know this?

80% of Employees are Experiencing Burnout, with More on the way.

Burnout is simply an Expression of Overwhelming Dis-Stress that has Occurred Consistently for Too Long.

Quite literally, the Body is Tearing Itself Apart during Burnout.

This is the Current Environment of Business Today.

We mix this with the Fact that We Cannot Give what we Do Not Have, and we can see a Major Failing.

If One Role of a Leader is to Optimize Stressors to Reach Peak Productivity, but the Leaders are in Dis-Stress and Burnout themselves, then they will Fail to get their Teams and Organizations Out of Burnout.

Burnout and Productivity are Opposed Forces.

Until we can Successfully Get Out, and "Stay" Out of Burnout, we will Continue to Fail to Produce the Leaders We Need.

But it goes further than this Fact.

Another Aspect that we must face is that we Fail to have Psychophysiological Mastery.

In Leadership, I can ask a Single Question to prove this point.

What Type of Leader are you?

See, an incredibly important aspect of Psychophysiology is Identity, but most people do not truly "Know" their Identity.

This is Most Apparent in Leadership.

If you ask someone What Type of Leader they are or ask for a Definition of What Leadership Means to them, you'll get a Different Answer from nearly everyone.

Many of those answers will come from different things they have heard others say.

In fact, there are over 850 "Academic" Definitions of Leadership.

That list does not include the "Non-Academic" Definitions that many people put together on the spot from the various things they have heard.

You can further tell this when you ask someone what Leadership Development Courses they have taken.

In all likelihood, they have taken so many courses that include so many Different, Varied, and even Contradictory forms of Leadership that they are Confused about what they are themselves!

If you do not know what type of Leader you are, and why different Courses could Benefit or become Detrimental to that form of Leadership, how can you Help Others become Leaders?

It becomes the Blind Leading the Blind.

Along with this, if You Do Not Know the type of Leader that you are, You Can Not be an Exemplar Leader.

People "Want" to Follow Exemplar Leaders, but if you are Unsure of the Type of Leader You Are, then You Can Not Exemplify Your Leadership.

You will end up drifting between different Types of Leadership, Exemplifying None of them.

At Best, your Leadership will be Wishy-Washy and Meaningless.

At Worst, your Leadership will be seen as Hypocritical and Perceived Negatively leading to Active Disengagement and Insubordination.

Now, if we go back to the Dis-Stress Issue that Causes Burnout, we encounter Another Reason that we Fail to Create More Leaders.

When we are in Dis-Stress, we become Blind to Most of the Paths that are Available to Us.

The Reason is that in Dis-Stress, we Default to the Fastest, Easiest Solutions due to how Survival Instincts Work.

However, the "Fastest, Easiest Solutions" in the Moment are almost Always Terrible in the Long Term.

We Fail to Create Leaders because all of the Paths where Leaders can Truly be Created exist "Outside" of Dis-Stress.

So we end up with a cycle of Businesses, Organizations, and Teams that continue to Circle the Same Paths that Lead to the Same Horrible Results.

Truly, it is Insanity at its Finest.

Then, within this Insane Cycle, we encounter another Problem.

Leaders are Best Formed in Regenerative Cycles and Environments.

However, Burnout is Directly Opposed to Regeneration.

Burnout itself is a Path of Degeneration, which can Spread like a Disease to others.

Until you Design a Regenerative Legacy within your Organization, you will continue to follow the same Degenerative Tendencies on an Infinite Loop into Destruction.

These are among the Top Reasons that we Fail to Create Leaders.

Until we Fix these Problems, we will continue to have the Same Results.

Failed Experiment after Failed Experiment, without Progress in between.

It is Possible and Necessary to Create a New Generation of Legendary Leaders, but we will not Accomplish it Following the Same Paths that have Created Today's World.

If we want a Different World, we need a New Model.

We need Leaders who Keep Teams and Organizations "Out" of Burnout.

We need Leaders who Know their type of Leadership and can help others Discover theirs.

We need Leaders who are True Exemplars so that People "Choose" to Follow Them.

We need Leaders who can Find New Paths to Better Futures.

We need Leaders who Design Regenerative Legacies.
