Today has been a really Easy Going Day.
I mean, I did finish Taxes in the Morning which is not my Idea of "Fun", but it was Relatively Easy Thankfully.
And Outside of that, I have had a Very Wonderful Day of Relax with my Spouse.
Finished a Easy Going One Mile Barefoot Jog at a 7:43 Pace which is Exciting.
Watched some Shows, got Lunch and a Snow Cone.
Went to the Store.
Cooked Dinner.
Mostly with All of this, Relaxing.
Now, I know Many...
Many...
Many Entrepreneurs and Leaders who would be Aghast!
"You took... a Relaxing Day?"
"Don't You have Things to Get Done?"
"Won't You Fall Behind on Your Projects?"
Yes, I took a Relaxing Day.
Yes, I have Plenty of Things to Do.
No, I Will Not Fall Behind on My Projects.
In Fact, my Day was Extremely Productive.
It was Far More Productive than it would have been If I had Decided to Work the Entire Day.
I Know that May Sound Strange to Many People.
Doing Nothing Was "More" Productive than Doing Something?
Yes.
But to Understand Why, you must Also Understand How Productivity Works.
Most People "Treat" Productivity like this...
More Hours Worked Equals More Productivity.
Wrong.
Very Frequently More Hours Worked Becomes Less Productivity.
Significantly Less.
Why?
A Few things Occur, Often Simultaneously.
First, Our Bodies Only have So Much Energy (Mg-ATP) to Use at Any Time.
When we begin to Run Out of Energy?
The Body "Shuts Down" Anything that it Deems is Not Important for Survival.
You Know what is "Not" Considered Essential?
Higher Psychological Functioning.
Which means that Our Ability to See Problems and Solve Problems becomes "Extremely" Limited.
Now, this is Not a Problem if we do Proper Recovery and Restore our Energy Reserves.
Except, if we "Continue" to Work, we will "Not" have Enough Time to Restore our Energy Reserves.
So, we Remain in this State.
This will put us into a Mild State of Dis-Stress until we Restore our Reserves...
Or "If" We Restore Them.
Most People Fail to Do This Though, so the Dis-Stress Grows.
It Eventually becomes Burnout, which is where Over 80% of the Workforce currently is.
In Burnout?
We can "Only" Attain 5% of Our Productivity Potential.
So, what does this mean?
If I get Plenty of Recovery, like I am doing today...
And Hit a Deep Flow State Tomorrow?
Reaching 100% of My Productivity Potential?
I will be 20X More Productive than Anyone in Burnout.
I could work "One" Day, and "Still" be More Productive than Most People Are in "Weeks".
But it is Still Worse than this.
Why?
When You are in Constant Brain Fog and Burnout...
You are More Prone to Mistakes.
The Worst the Brain Fog and Burnout?
The Worse the Mistakes.
Mistakes, which will be Required to be Fixed.
Which Require "More" Time.
There is a Classic Phrase in Wood Cutting...
Measure Twice, Cut Once.
But Working in Brain Fog and Burnout is like Cutting 5 Times without Measuring...
And "Hoping" One of the Cuts will Work Out "Enough"...
But it Usually Does Not.
You Begin to Work without Making Progress.
You Either Go In Circles, Known as Insanity, or You begin to Attain Negative Results.
Yes, it is Absolutely Possible to Achieve Negative Results.
You can think of it like this...
You are a Pilot who needs to Fly from the UK to the States...
But You Begin Your Flight Pattern Going Toward India.
Could you Course Correct?
Sure...
But You'll be Further Back than Where You Began.
I have watched "Many" Entrepreneurs and Leaders make Mistakes that Caused this Result.
So, Yes.
Sometimes Not Working is "Far" More Productive than Working More.
It is Why I Happily have taken today to Rest and Recover.
Enjoy time with my Spouse.
