You're going to Hate Hearing This because it's Cliché Expression.
Life Is Not Fair.
None of us Enjoy Hearing that.
There are different "Levels" of Unfairness.
But it is Still a Reality of Life.
It is Not Fair.
I'm not going to "Deny" this Reality.
To Deny Reality is to Block Your Success.
So you must First Accept Reality.
Even if it is "Cliché".
Even if you Hate Hearing it.
Now, once you "Accept" Reality for what it is, you can begin to Create a Path Forward Toward what you want.
When it comes to what "Is" or "Is Not" Fair, you have to Ask an Honest Question.
What Type of "Fair" are we Talking About?
There are different types of levels of "Fair" that exist throughout All of Life.
For Instance, are we talking about it at a "Personal" Level?
What I mean by this is whether you have "Personal" Power to do something about what is Unfair.
Just as an Example, I recently had someone tell me it was Unfair that another Writer had an "Old" Body of Work that they Copied/Pasted over into another Platform as a way to "Game" the System there.
Is that "Unfair"?
It could be Viewed that Way.
The "Game" in question was designed to Encourage Writers to Create "New" Material Daily.
So, to an Extent, "Copy/Pasting" Older Work Defeats the Purpose of the "Game".
But let me say it again, as much as you'll Hate it...
Life is Unfair.
They have an Old Body of Work.
Great.
They are Copying/Pasting to Game the System.
Great.
That has "Nothing" to do with Your Own Work.
What is in "Your" Power?
Do You Have a Body of Work Yet?
If Not, then Now is a Great Time to Build Yours.
Start Now.
Are You Willing to Compromise Your Beliefs to "Compete" in the Game They Are Playing?
If Not, then Do Not Lower Your Standards.
Play to "Your" Strengths.
Keep "Your" Morals and Character.
Keep Moving "Yourself" Forward.
You could Sit where you are, and Talk about it being "Unfair", sure.
But does it "Benefit" You?
Probably Not.
So, Move Forward in ways that "Will" Benefit You.
Now, here's a Question to Keep in Mind...
"If" they are Not Playing the Game as Intended, and maybe it is "Unfair", but what will the Result Be?
They only have so much work they can "Copy/Paste".
Eventually, they will Run Out.
What happens then?
Do they Stop?
Then You Outlast Them.
Do they Copy/Paste Again?
Then their Work is Repetitive, likely in a Bad Way.
With this, I'd ask this Question...
Was the Work from that Previous Point "Really" that Good?
I think of one of my Original Mentors in Leadership: John Maxwell.
He has written "Many" Extremely Successful Books.
Some of those had "Anniversary" Editions.
Do you know what John did for those Anniversary Editions?
He literally Rewrote over 50% of those Books.
We're talking about Books that Sold "Millions" of Copies.
Books that people Described as "Life Changing".
Over 50% of what was Written in these Books was Tossed and Changed.
Why?
John's Work had Dramatically Grown over time.
I think about my "Own" Work.
My Work from 6 Months Ago is "Dramatically" Different from my Work Today.
I "Personally" would "Never" Copy/Paste what I Wrote back then because I "Know" How much Better I can do Today.
If you are Relying on the Past too Much, You're Failing to Grow.
If your Work is "Not" Dramatically Improved in a Year, then You're Not Looking at Yourself Hard Enough.
So who cares if someone is Copying/Pasting their Old Work?
They are Living in the Past.
"You" can Build the Future.
But this is not the only "Level" of Unfair.
Is it more of a Platform Unfairness?
Well, there may be a few ways to go about it.
You can Discuss the Unfairness of a Platform with the Organization that Designed the Platform.
Sometimes, Ideas play out Differently in Reality than in Theory.
Perhaps there are "Unintended" Side-Effects.
Maybe they can be Fixed.
But we have to Make it Aware to the Individuals who have the Power to do something.
Sometimes those things may Change.
Sometimes they Can't or Won't be Changed, for Various Reasons.
This is going to Leave you with a Choice.
Do you Continue to Use the Platform?
Sometimes the Answer may be Yes.
If so, you may Need to Adjust your Strategy within the Platform.
Some people "Play the Game" to "Influence the Game".
An Employee sees Wrongs in an Organization, so Rises to the C-Suite to Change It.
Other times, the Answer may be No.
In this case, you may need to Find a Different Platform.
Sometimes, Platforms Change "Because" People Leave.
The Option to Leave can be Powerful when Utilized.
There is another Level we can Look At as Well.
Are things Unfair at a Systemic Level?
We see these types of Unfair Systems "All" Around Us.
Individually we may have "Little" to "No" Power.
The Solution?
Work Together.
The Larger the System of Unfairness, the More People Need to Work Together.
This may be at a Community Level.
A City Level.
A State Level.
A Country Level.
Maybe a World-Wide Level.
Each requires Different Levels of Consensus and Unity to Accomplish Change.
Individually we are Weak.
As Groups, we can become Unstoppable.
There is an Important Question we have to Consider at this Level though...
Are we Creating an "Equally" Unfair System?
What I mean by this is that Many "Revolutions" Fail because the "New" System Instated was "Exactly" as Unfair (or Worse) as the Previous System, just in a "New" Way.
The Result?
Eventually, another Revolution.
It becomes a Vicious Cycle that Repeats Itself.
The Key is that a New System must be "More" Fair than the Previous System.
Will it be Perfect?
No.
But, Over Time, we can Grow into Better Systems.
The Truth is that Life is Unfair.
You will Inevitably Encounter It.
It is Never a Matter of "If" You Find It, but What You "Do" When You Encounter It.
"Action" is what will make the Difference.
