What To Do When There Are Too Many Causes To Help - Understanding How You Can Fit Into The Interdependent Picture

I think We are All Well Aware...

The World...

Is a Mess.

You cannot be On Social Media...

Or Watch the Television...

For Longer than 5 Minutes before You are Struck with All of the Worst that Humanity is Offering in Today's World.

Now...

I'm Not Here to Talk about the "Specific" Problems at this Moment...

Truly there are Far Too Many to List Anyhow.

Despite All of the Problems we Hear About...

There are Still Countless More that Never Reach the Surface of the Media.

This, however, Becomes the Problem.

There are So Many Causes in the World that Need Help...

So Many that May Speak to Your Heart and Soul...

Desperately Asking You for Help.

And if You're like Me...

You want to Help Others.

You want to be a Source of Good and Hope in the World...

Want to Make a Difference...

Want to Improve Lives...

And...

You are One Person.

You have a Limited amount of Time Available...

A Limited amount of Resources Available...

And there are Other Parts of Your Life that You Need to Tend To.

So what can You Do?

How Do You Help when there are So Many Causes to Help With?

Well...

Start with Whether You have the Capacity to Help.

Here's the Reality...

These Causes Need People who are At Their Individual Best.

A Good Heart is Needed...

But So Is Impact.

If You are Currently in Burnout, where based on the Research means You're Operating at 5% or Less of Your Productivity Potential...

You Need to Get that Figured Out "Before" You Can Deeply Help a Cause.

If You Do Not have the Capacity to Help Directly, there are Other Things You can Do, which we will get to...

But...

If You Do have the Capacity, the Next Thing to Ask is How You can Use Your Strengths.

All of Us have Strengths and Weaknesses in Life.

Many People Attempt to Help Causes where they "Believe" they are "Supposed" To...

But that is Rarely in the Area(s) of Their Strengths...

Which makes them Less than Impactful.

If You Really want to Help these Causes...

Focus on Where and How You can Apply Your Strengths.

That is Where You will Impact the Best...

And Feel the Best.

You will Want to be Effective with Whatever You Do.

You are More Likely to Make a Real Difference through Your Strengths.

This Leads us to the Next Area.

There is a Point where, Even if You have the Capacity to Actively Help "Some" Causes...

You May Want to Help More, but are Simply Unable To.

You're an Individual with Real Limits.

So if You're at Your Limit...

But want to Help...

What Can You Do?

If You Cannot Help Directly, Perhaps You can Help Indirectly.

You can Always look to be Spread the Message of Different Organizations...

You can have Information Available to Point Others Toward.

Further than This as Well...

You May Know an Individual in Your Network with Specific Strengths and Talents...

And You Might be able to Connect that Individual to an Organization in Need.

Just because "You" May Not be the Right Person to be Deeply Impactful...

Does Not Mean that You Do Not "Know" Someone Else who Could Help.

One thing that We Fail to Understand Often in these Matters...

Is that We Live in an Interdependent World.

It Does Not Need to "Just" Be Us By Ourselves.

We can Help Improve the World "Through" Our Connections.

Knowing Who can Help Where with the Best Impact is often Better than Trying to Do the Work by Ourselves.

Lean into the Interdependence of Life.

That May be the Best Way to Help More Causes than You Believed Possible.
