When it comes to the Human Body, there are many "Rules" that you hear about.
The body isn't fully developed until a certain age.
You hit your peak by a certain age.
As an athlete you might as well retire by a certain age because you'll never be as good as you are at that point.
If you start physical activity after a specific (young) age, you might as well just make it a hobby.
I've heard a lot of the "Rules" for many years.
However, in my own horribly sick state where I have been mostly bedridden for 2 days now (though I still have kept my Run Streak!) I have been fortunate to see a lot of highlights from the Olympic Trials.
Truly, watching the mastery that many of these athletes have is humbling.
However, I was noticing something very strange.
I kept seeing example after example of Individuals who were Breaking these "Rules".
Athletes who have gone to 4 Olympics in their career, despite what the "Rules" say.
Athletes who have seeming body Mastery at extremely Young Ages.
Athletes who are way past their "Peak Age" and Demolishing the Competition.
Athletes who never had high level training who still qualified for the Olympics.
They also aren't alone.
Earlier this year I met a former Olympian Diver, Laura Wilkinson, who won Gold in 2000 despite having broken toes and having only started training in High School.
Or look at the growing list of Professional Athletes who are still competing into their Late 40's and keeping up.
Which makes me wonder, are the "Rules" truly Rules?
Or are these just "best guesses" based somebody's perceptions?
I think we are starting to see an age of Athletes who will break "All" the Rules.
Many people reference the famous "4 Minute Mile" where Roger Bannister successfully ran a 4 Minute Mile despite everyone, including doctors, saying it was impossible.
However, image that, but across All Sports.
I think this is the age of athletes that we are in now.
Which makes you wonder, how far will they go?
How far will they take it from here?
I have a feeling that we are going to see incredible feats of athleticism, far beyond what today's "Rules" state.
Which further make you wonder - if they can do it, why can't "All" of us?
If Athletes who push their bodies "Beyond Breaking Points" can maintain their Bodies like this, what is stopping the rest of us?
I'm not saying that we will all become Olympic Athletes, but if they can Stay that Healthy for that Long, there should be nothing that prevents the rest of us from living Healthy Lives.
There is so much sickness in the world.
I'm not talking about a bad flu trip that puts you out of comission for a few days.
I'm talking about sickness that people carry with them every single day with no respite.
If we are discovering ways to drastically Improve our Wellness to the point where Professional Athletes are doing the "Impossible" commonly, then why can't the rest of us Improve our Wellness?
It makes me wonder if in "Health and Wellness" if we have "Rules" that also are Not True.
In my Research around Psychophysiology, I do believe this to be the case.
I believe that there are a Lot of "Rules" that are based on Faulty Research and Corruption that have led to the decreases in Health and Wellness we have been seeing.
Only recently has the "Maximum Age Expectancy" Dropped in First World Countries, like the States.
But how is that possible when there is so much that seems to indicate we can Achieve "Significantly" More than has been "Commonly" Believed.
This makes me wonder, what is the True Limit of what we can Achieve?
I am of the Belief that we are "Highly" Underestimating what is possible, and I believe we are about to see a New Generation Prove that.
