What If The Best Way To Overcome A Negative Mindset Is Not A Positive Mindset? Understanding The Different Brain Systems

There is a Common Challenge We All Face.

Overcoming A Negative Mindset.

Mindset Teachers all say the Same Thing.

If you want to Overcome a Negative Mindset, there is only "One Way".

A Positive Mindset.

Be Intentional about Thinking Positively.

You'll hear things like...

You need Five Positive Thoughts to Outweigh A Negative Thought.

Or how we are Prone to think Negatively.

It's a Survival Instinct.

We have this Negativity Bias to Overcome the Dangers of Nature.

But in a World without Natural Dangers, our Mind instead "Imagines" Dangers.

At Least, this is what the Mindset Teachers say.

In many ways, it makes a lot of Sense.

At least...

If you "Only" think about it from a Psychological Perspective.

When you only have Psychology to Rely On, then your only Solution is that Your Mind Must Overcome Your Mind.

Logically, it makes Sense...

Kind Of...

More Positive Mindset Beats A Negative Mindset.

But does this work in Reality?

One of the Interesting things about "Logic" is that, throughout History, we have used "Logic" to come to Many Illogical Solutions.

We have found "Logical" Solutions and Discovered they Did Not Work in Reality.

How?

Well, we often have Incomplete Information.

There are things we have Yet to Understand that Reveal New Aspects of the Truth.

When you look at the Majority of People who try to Implement a "Positive Mindset", you'll discover that Most People Struggle.

No Matter How Frequently they Implement a "Positive Mindset", their Negative Mindset Still Overpower them.

They could have a Ten-to-One Ratio of Positive to Negative Thoughts...

Yet their Negative Mindset Wins Out.

How could that be?

In my Research on Leadership Psychophysiology, I have found that Psychology itself is a field that is Filled with Incomplete Information.

That led me to Research the 4 Brain Systems of Sageship.

When we look at the 4 Brain Systems, we Begin to Discover that there may be a Different Way to Overcome a Negative Mindset.

What happens when we Try to Replace a Negative Mindset with a Positive Mindset in the 4 Brain System?

Well, Negative Thoughts Occur.

Period.

They are Unavoidable.

When we Experience a Negative Brain Thought, the Brain will send Signals to the Other Brain Systems.

Our Neurocardiology (Heart-Brain) will likely Find an Emotion that Matches the Thought via Loss of Coherence.

The Nervous System will also React to that Negative Thought in a Negative Manner.

Then, what happens when we Further Try to "Suppress" the Negative Mindset with a Positive Mindset?

Well, we Teach Our Brain Systems that we should "Fear" the Negative Mindset.

The Heart-Brain will Increase the Emotional Impact of the Negative Mindset as the Loss of Coherence Increases.

The Nervous System will React and Push us into a Fight-Or-Flight State to Avoid whatever is Causing that Mindset.

The More We Suppress?

The More The Fear Response Grows.

Then, we add a Further Psychological Aspect on top of this Negative Communication Loop.

We Beat Ourselves Up for Having a Negative Mindset.

We Become Upset.

It Fuels this Communication into a Vicious Cycle.

The Brain Ups the Negative Response to the Negative Mindset.

The Heart-Brain's Coherence Loss Reaction Increases.

The Nervous System has a Stronger Fight-Or-Flight Response.

It gets to a Point where you could have 100 Positives, and a Single Negative is Equally Powerful.

So what is the Solution?

Understanding that our Mindset Will Not Save Us.

Instead, we Need a New Wayset.

Earlier I listed a Few "Common" Lessons from Mindset Teachers...

Do you Remember them?

There is One of those that we've Already Shown to be False.

How Five Positive Thoughts are Needed to Overcome a Negative Thought.

If a Single Negative Thought has the Same Power as Ten Positive Thoughts, then what have we Discovered?

We can "Change" the Impact of Thoughts.

If Positive Thoughts can become Weaker and Negative Thoughts can become Stronger...

The Opposite is also True.

But the Solution is Not in the Brain Overcoming Itself.

The Solution comes from The Other Brain Systems Overcoming the Brain.

We must Teach the Other Brain Systems that Negative Thoughts Hold No Power.

The Fastest Way to Accomplish This is through the Nervous System.

You can Experience a Negative Mindset, Even Purposefully, but Simultaneously Send Positive Signals through your Nervous System.

What Happens?

The Brain Has a Negative Thought.

The Nervous System Sends a Different Signal.

Instead of "Fight-Or-Flight", it sends "All Clear".

The Heart-Brain is Getting Different Signals, so it Stops to Understand.

The Negative Thought Continues.

The Nervous System Continues to Say "All Clear".

The Result?

The Heart-Brain learns that the Negative Thoughts are Fine.

They are Not Dangerous.

They are Alright to Experience.

They Have No Power.

There is No Real Danger.

Then the Heart-Brain Experiences Neutral or even Positive Coherence and Emotions.

The Brain then becomes Superseded by the Other Systems.

We Experience the Negative Thoughts, but they have No Power.

Instead of Needing an Ever-Expanding Amount of Positive Thoughts to Overcome Negative Thoughts...

We Change Our Wayset to See that Negative Thoughts are Fine.

Then, a Single Positive Thought could Overcome Many Negative Thoughts.

Your Brain can Continue to Come Up with "All" of the Negative Thoughts.

It is "Really" Good at it.

But Your Positive Wayset Overcomes All of the Negative Thoughts.

This is Why Your Wayset is So Much More Important than Your Mindset.

It Allows You To Experience Negative Thoughts.

It Allows You To Experience Negative Emotions.

You can even Learn to Appreciate Negative Thoughts and Emotions.

But You Do Not Become "Controlled" By Them.

You Understand Them.

Allow Them To Have Their Space.

These Thoughts and Emotions Exist for Good Reasons.

But Your Way of Being is No Longer Controlled by them.

The Way to Overcome a Negative Mindset is Not to Fight It with a Positive Mindset.

It is to Learn that Our Negative Thoughts Hold No Power.

That We Can Continue Forward Regardless.

That, even though we Experience Negative Thoughts, they Do Not Determine Our Lives.

Our Wayset will Determine Our Course Forward Instead.
