Most people try to make Gigantic and Quick Efforts towards their Goals.
But where does that Lead them most of the Time?
If we look at the Statistics and Crash from New Year's Resolutions, not very far.
It also makes sense when we look at how Psychophysiology Works.
What is Required for Gigantic and Quick Efforts to Get Accomplished?
A Lot of Energy (Mg-ATP) and Not Much Time, Often Doing Things We Are Not Used To Doing.
What does this Create?
Dis-Stress.
Dis-Stress causes a Spike in Energy (Mg-ATP) Use, on top of the already High Levels of Energy needed to Accomplish the Goal.
When we Experience Dis-Stress, we go into a Fight-or-Flight State where we become Less Effective.
Our Bodies also "Despise" both Using Too Much Energy (Mg-ATP) Too Quickly (aka We Desire Homeostasis) and being in a Fight-or-Flight State.
So what happens?
Our Bodies Retaliate.
As a "Safety" Mechanism, the Body will create Blocks to attempt to Dissuade you from doing that again.
Even if "Logically" we know something may be Beneficial in the Long-Term, our Body may still Dissuade us Anyway as it "Feels" like a "Threat" to our Existence based on where we currently are.
So, if you ever tried to do something Massive toward a Goal, and did Not Accomplish it, it "May" not have been your Fault!
But how do we get around this?
How do we Achieve Our Large Goals "without" Triggering these Aspects of how our Psychophysiology works?
Well, often all we Need to Attain Large Goals are Small Efforts.
What do I mean?
Well, let's take Writing as an Example.
Most people's Strategy for Writing is to try to do something like 1 Chapter a Day, have a Book prepared within a Month, and go from there!
But do you know How Much Work goes into 1 Chapter?
More than most people realize!
The average Chapter Length is 4,000 Words (8 - 16 Pages depending on Formatting).
Is it "Doable"?
Technically Yes.
But is it "Easy"?
Absolutely Not.
It takes a Lot of Energy (Mg-ATP) and Time to accomplish it, especially when you haven't been consistently writing!
For most people, this leads to them Crashing Quickly, and taking a Break from Writing, which leads to it Never getting Complete - All due to their Psychophysiology working against them.
But what if you decide to just do 250 Words a Day as a Minimum?
That is only .25 to .5 Pages per Day.
Most people can do that fairly easily!
This is an approach I took when I started to Write Consistently with these Articles.
Where most people Never Write a Single Book in Years (if ever) while trying to make Major Efforts, I have essentially written Multiple Books in the same time period.
How?
Small Efforts, Daily.
This means I utilize Less Energy (Mg-ATP), which, when consistently done, becomes a Habit (using Even Less Energy).
No Fight-or-Flight reaction is Triggered, so I can get into the Flow Zone.
When I'm in Flow, I Perform at my Best, which often Allows me to write "More" than 250 Words (I average around 800 Words because of Flow and Habits combined).
As our Bodies "Seek" both Flow States and Maintaining Habits, Writing has become Significantly Easier (but not "Easy").
On days when I Write late, I begin to Feel a "Need" to Write until I have Accomplished it, which Drives me toward Better Results.
Those "Small Efforts" become Extremely Powerful with just a tiny bit of time.
But this doesn't "just" work with Writing.
I've done it for Most Aspects of my Life.
With Certifications and Learning, I've Achieved 8 Certifications (almost done with a 9th as well) in the past 2 Years in different Industries, plus Read Multiple Books and Hundreds if not Thousands of Articles and Scientific Research Papers.
All I did was at "Least" 1 Lesson Per Day, 1 Article/Research Paper Per Day, and/or 1 Sentence of a Book Per Day.
With Fitness, I have improved my VO2 Max to 59 which is in the Top 1% of my Age Group (30-39), have a "Fitness Age" of 19.5, and have even become a Semi-Professional Athlete with some Sponsorships.
All I did was at "Least" 1 Mile Per Day (100 Day Run Streak Currently), and/or 1 Exercise such as a Single Pull Up, Pop Up, Push Up, Squat, etc (Weights Not Required).
Each time I make a Small Effort, I make Progress.
As I make Progress, Results come More Easily.
As Results Come, I am Encouraged to Go Further.
Yet, I'm never Overloaded because Consistency is what is Important, allowing me to Recover Easily.
All of this makes it a Virtuous Cycle where Small Efforts beget More Small Efforts, which creates Exponential Results.
Never Underestimate Small Efforts.
