The Unexpected Journeys In Your Career - When Life Provides Paths You Never Expected To Go Down

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

It's a Question that We Ask at Different Points in People's Lives...

Or Some Variation of That Question.

It is So Strange...

When We are Asked that Question...

So Many People Seem to have a Good Idea of the Direction they want to Head...

I Did.

When I was Young, I was "Certain" I was going to be a Paleontologist...

Digging Up Dinosaur Bones and Unlocking the Past.

Then it was a Pilot in the US Air Force...

Until I Discovered that My Poor Eyesight would likely Disqualify Me from Ever Piloting a Jet.

This Took me into High School where We Ask the Question...

What Do You Want to Study in University?

It is Difficult because it Feels like the Ultimate Choice of Your Life...

It Appears that it Can Either Be the Start of Your Destiny...

Or the Chains of Despair.

I Know that I Struggled with Deciding...

But I Knew that I wanted to Help People.

I thought about Becoming a Doctor...

But Decided to Head Toward Psychology with the Goal to Go into Counseling.

However, as Fate Would have It...

The University I went to was Really Designed for Psychological Research...

Which was Something that I was Not Interested In.

I Found Myself Wanting to Change My Path...

But Unsure of What to Do...

I went with the Most "Practical" Degree...

Business, with a Focus in Accounting.

It Seemed to me that Accounting was like a Puzzle, and that You Simply had to Put the Pieces Together in the Right Way.

When I Graduated, though, I Discovered that the "Theory" of Accounting was Different than the "Work" of Accounting.

I Vehemently Did Not Want to Go Back to University...

So I went Seeking for What Could Be.

There I learned about Leadership Coaching, and I saw a Need...

The World was Breaking, and Leaders were Failing Everywhere...

Perhaps I could be Part of the Solution.

So, that is what I Sought to Do.

But...

There was a Problem.

The $350 Billion Industry "Completely Failed" 80% of the Time.

Well...

Now I had a Puzzle to Figure Out.

I Dove into this Puzzle and Found that the Underlying Problems appeared to involve Psychophysiology...

So I Began to Research All Aspects of Psychophysiology...

Created a Category called Sageship, combining Leadership, Psychophysiology, Business Design, and Functional Medicine...

Grew and Began to be Recognized Alongside Doctors as a Healthcare Professional...

And Received an Honorary Doctorate in Advanced Studies in Psychology.

Today, I'm Considering Going Back to School to become a Naturopathic Doctor or Naturopathic Psychologist...

Or Both.

When You are Searching for the Path of Your Career...

Do Not Be Afraid to Take the Unexpected Journeys that Life May Provide.
