The Sower's Dilemma - The Reasons Most People Never Reap From Their Labor

The Sower's Dilemma - The Reasons Most People Never Reap From Their Labor

There are many people who work Hard throughout their Lives.

Back-Breaking Labor.

Yet, what do they Gain from their Labor?

What do they Reap?

Little.

Scraps.

Perhaps Nothing.

There is a rising tide of Voices who Cry Out...

Why Even Try?

It is a Form of Powerlessness that has Grown.

Now, for many people, when they think of "Reaping", they also think of another word.

Sowing.

There is the Phrase...

We Reap what we Sow.

This is a Reference to the Cycle of Farming where you "Sow" Seeds, and "Reap" the Crop.

I was thinking about this, and a Biblical Parable today (No, you do not need to be a Christian to Learn the Lesson).

This Parable gives us Insights into Why so many people Never Reap, Despite their Backbreaking Labor.

This is the Parable...

"Listen! Imagine a sower going out to sow.

Now it happened that, as he sowed, some of the seed fell on the edge of the path, and the birds came and ate it up.

Some seed fell on rocky ground where it found little soil and sprang up straightaway, because there was no depth of earth;

and when the sun came up it was scorched and, not having any roots, it withered away.

Some seed fell into thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it produced no crop.

And some seeds fell into rich soil and, growing tall and strong, produced crop; and yielded thirty, sixty, even a hundredfold."

-Mark 4:3-8 JB

So, Why does the Sower Not Reap?

One question we should ask is "Why" does the Sower put So Much Seed in So Many Places that seem "Completely" Unsuitable?

If we have an Experienced Sower, wouldn't they "Know" to Avoid Birds?

To Not Sow on Rocks?

That Thorns will Choke the Crop?

Why Waste Time when We Know that it is the "Rich Soil" the Produces the Crop?

This is the First Misconception of the Parable of the Sower.

The Sower does not Truly Know How to Sow.

If they Did, you would be right to think that they would "Know" about these things.

But they Do Not...

Because they Lack Experience.

This is the First Problem that so many have.

They Believe they are Experts when they are still Novices.

Not only this, but they Do Not Even Understand "What" They are Sowing.

Many people Do Not Know their Strengths.

Of those Who Do, they are Still Seeking "How" to best Use those Strengths.

They are "Sowing" with their Strengths in Unsuitable Places.

They are Resigned.

Following the Flow Forced Upon Them.

Their Strengths are Taken Advantage of by the Birds.

They Attempt to Use their Strengths in ways that Do Not Truly Work.

Their Work Ethic, their Labor, is Strong, but they become Unable to Reap as the Sun Scorches their Efforts.

They are Thrust into Toxic Workplaces where their Life is Choked Out of them by Systems which are Not Designed to Help Them.

This is the World We Live In.

Within these types of Unsuitable Places, their Back-Breaking Labor will Never Reap them Rewards.

But there is Another Aspect of this.

To Discover "Where" the Best Places to Sow are for "You" and "Your" Strengths, you Must Actually Sow in Many Places.

There are many times where we "See" a Place that Looks Promising, but Discover that it is Not.

We Must Test.

We Must Adjust.

But Most Importantly, we must "Continue" to Sow.

So many Never Reap because they Simply Do Not Sow "Enough".

They never walk down the Path Far Enough to Discover Where their "Seeds" are Best Suited.

Different Seeds Thrive Best in Different Ecosystems.

If you Attempt to Plant a Cactus in a Rainforest, it will Never Grow.

It is Too Humid.

If you Attempt to Plant a Cactus on a Mountain, it will Never Grow.

It is Too Cold.

For the Cactus to Thrive, it must be planted in the Desert.

People may look at a Cactus Seed and say, "Those are Worthless Seeds".

People may tell you, "Nothing Grows in the Desert".

But those People would be Wrong.

However, if you Do Not Continue to Seek "Where" to Sow, You'll Never Discover that You have Cactus Seeds that Require the Desert.

This is the Sower's Dilemma.

Until you Understand the Seeds You Carry...

Until you Understand where best for You to Plant those Seeds...

Your Labor will always be Fruitless.

You Must Seek Until you Discover.

When you Discover, You'll Find that Your Seeds Flourish.

Not Only For You, but for the Entire Ecosystem around them.

A Cactus provides Water.

A Cactus provides Shelter.

A Cactus provides Flowers and Fruits for Food.

A Cactus Stabilizes the Soil with their Roots.

A Cactus provides Medicine.

All of this within what many consider the Most Hostile of Environments.

The Seeds we Carry are often Far More Powerful than we Realize.

But we must Move Past the Sower's Dilemma.

We Must Sow.

Often.

In Various Places.

Until We Discover What We Carry.
