The Small Reminders On The Long Journey Forward - Something To Always Keep In Mind

The Small Reminders On The Long Journey Forward - Something To Always Keep In Mind

Written by a human, for humans, always.

Over the years I have met a lot of people.

Some of those people were there for but a moment...

Others had significant roles in my life.

As time moves forward...

Life changes.

Sometimes people who barely had a role suddenly become huge parts of your life.

Other times...

People who you thought might always be there...

Disappear.

You may not know why.

You might feel abandoned.

You could begin to wonder whether you did something wrong.

I have been on both sides of this...

The one who disappeared...

And the one wondering where another went.

Reasons may vary from case to case...

Some may be good reasons...

Others not so much.

But I was reminded of something earlier today.

Recently, I received a recognition that had a social media announcement...

But it was not the recognition itself that caught my eye...

Rather it was seeing someone who liked the announcement.

The person I noticed...

Was one of these individuals...

Who had been a larger part of my life...

Then one day disappeared.

I had reached out...

Tried to reconnect...

But never heard back from them.

Yet...

Here...

After years of hearing nothing...

I saw a small reminder that they are still in my corner.

On the long journey of our lives...

Many things can happen.

One thing that is always good to keep in mind though...

Is that often...

There are people who are in our corner...

Who are happy to see us making progress...

Who are silently somewhere hoping for our good.

They may not make themselves known...

They may not have conversations with you anymore...

They could seem to have disappeared...

But it does not necessarily mean they are not wanting you to continue in your journey.

When we have a desire to do good in the world...

And we do our best...

Even when our best does not feel enough...

Or when circumstances change the direction of how life was imagined...

The good we have done will often stay with people.

Even in our imperfections and failures...

When we truly seek to do well in the world...

That is most frequently what will continue to live on...

And keep people in our corner...

Rooting us on...

Even if only in the distance...

Providing small reminders.
