The Need To Recover - Why I Will Not Apologize For The Short Message

The Need To Recover - Why I Will Not Apologize For The Short Message

I write every single day...

For over 1,050 days in a row.

And today...

I will continue to write...

But today's message will be brief.

Why?

I'm exhausted.

According to my Garmin Watch...

I ran 14 miles for an Obstacle Course Race with 31 obstacles on Saturday...

Today, I ran another 4 miles with 20 obstacles...

Have driven around 7 hours in 3 days...

With 11 hours of Sleep over the two nights...

And I just finished recording a podcast episode for an episode I'm appearing on with the Quadfather.

It has been a busy weekend.

Have there been sacrifices?

Yes.

Have there been rewards?

Absolutely.

I got a new PR (Personal Record) for the race Saturday...

And took 3rd in my Age Group.

I saw my little brother get 1st in the kids races, and complete his Trifecta award...

I raced with my little sister in her first adult race and she was amazing...

And I had a great conversation with the Quadfather.

It has been a great weekend.

But because I pushed hard...

Now I need to Recover.

So many people try to push through...

Do more...

Go faster...

No need to ever rest.

The result?

Burnout...

Chronic Disease...

Worse.

Will not be me.

So, yes, today I will rest.

I will hit my minimum for writing these articles...

And I will not apologize.

You should never have to apologize for recognizing your need to recover...

A very normal, human need.

Consider today, if you need to Recover.
