Written by a human, for humans, always.
Do you want a better life?
Do you want your situation and circumstances to change?
The vast majority of people have challenges and difficulties in their lives...
Even those who appear successful...
So the answer generally is the same for everyone...
Yes.
However...
If you look at the reality of it...
Most people do not change.
Many will try.
Few will make some progress.
But even most of them will end up exactly where they began...
Sometimes worse.
There are very few people who seek growth...
And are able to maintain it.
Why is this, though?
There are multiple reasons that will always be at play...
Energy (Mg-ATP) needs...
Resource requirements (such as educational needs)...
Time availability needs...
Stopping things that are unproductive or counterproductive...
But there is one that often stands out as the greatest challenge of growth...
Loneliness.
Especially in today's world...
Most people have such a small network of people that they are actually close with...
And we, as humans, are social and interdependent creatures.
We have the capacity to thrive alongside others...
And suffer when we lack support.
The thing about growth...
Is that most people do it as a solo activity.
They do it alone.
As they begin to change...
What they do not realize is that the dynamics of the relationships around them change as well.
Depending on the type of change and how extreme the change is...
Growth can actually cause strain in the relationships around us.
The result often becomes one of two things...
Either you end up spending less time with the people you are becoming less like...
Potentially to the point of drifting apart completely...
Or you revert in order to maintain the relationships.
Because most people attempt to make change as an individual activity...
The first option leads to more feelings of loneliness...
And the second option often feels, from a psychophysiological perspective, safer.
At a deep, often subconscious level, we prefer the known safety of those few we surround ourselves with...
Than the unknown that feels vastly more lonely...
Especially when we attempt change alone.
So...
Most people revert...
And when they fail to grow in their lives...
They end up decaying in their lives by default.
That is the norm.
The question becomes...
What can be done?
There are a few things.
If you can...
Get the people you care about to change with you.
This can be an incredible way to bond with those you care about most.
It is what my spouse and I do in various parts of our lives, and I can tell you it works.
An alternative or supplement to that...
Is to connect with others who are making the same type of change(s) in their lives.
This group can become a gigantic force of support in your life.
Sometimes lasting friendships are forged amidst individuals who change together.
Finally...
There is one more thing that you can do when you want to change...
And this one becomes a necessity if your goal is to reach true Sageship...
You can get comfortable being alone.
Here's the thing about Sageship...
When your goal is to push the boundaries of your industry beyond where they are today...
In ways that no one has yet accomplished...
In ways that maybe no one is currently pursuing...
You may be completely alone in those endeavors.
That does not necessarily mean that you cannot obtain support from others...
It simply means that you are pursuing a type of change that so few people are willing to put the effort into...
That there really is either only a tiny handful of people who will understand...
Or potentially no one who will truly understand.
If the goal is Sageship...
That is something you simply must accept.
You will need to find companionship through other means...
Such as relationships, hobbies, or other pursuits.
But within the domain of true Sageship...
You may need to get comfortable not having anyone around you who truly understands what it is you are working toward.
There is a reason that few people ever pursue being a true Sage in the world...
It is because it is not a path for those who seek easier paths.
Not only is the Sage engaged in the highest levels of difficult things within their industry...
But they are actively working to push beyond those levels in such a way that few could understand.
Aspects of the path are inherently lonely.
Even your greatest supporters will not fully understand the machinations of what you're attempting to do...
Because it is actively trying to move beyond what people currently understand.
It not only requires a high level of knowledge and experience that few people have to begin with...
But it also requires theoretical lines of questioning and testing with unknown answers and variables that most people do not understand...
But which you are beginning to internalize without even yet having the vocabulary to explain what it is you are attempting to wrap your mind around.
It is difficult to discuss things with people in a way they understand...
When the Sage has not yet developed a vocabulary to explain what it is they are working toward...
Especially if it is within an industry that is already notoriously difficult to understand.
If you want to have success with growth...
Bring people alongside you.
If you want to grow into Sageship...
Bring who you can...
But get comfortable being lonely because even those you bring will struggle to truly understand.
Regardless of what degree you seek to grow...
Understand that you are a human...
And that means that you do need other people around you and supporting you.
If you attempt to do things completely alone...
You will fail.
It is a biological necessity to success to have others around us...
And those who claim otherwise are either lying or more lost than they realize.
Growth requires us to be supported in some way by others...
And requires us to support them in return.
When we do this...
Growth becomes vastly easier to accomplish.
