The Energy Trickle Impact - Understanding How It Differentiates Those Who Are Good From Those Who Are Great

This week has been Extremely Full.

I'm in the midst of Two New Projects.

I'm working through Two Certifications.

Plus, I'm continuing with my Daily Writing and work with Clients.

I have the workouts for my Semi-Professional Sports Career.

Then, I have Familial Responsibilities as well.

This means that I have been running around trying to get a lot done.

It is Fulfilling.

At the same time, it requires a lot of Energy.

It has also been a week with a lot of work and not enough Recovery.

The Result?

It's an Energy Trickle.

You can think of it like a Bucket of Water.

We always have to Fill the Bucket with Water Day by Day.

But there are Holes in the Bucket.

The More Holes, the Faster the Water Trickles Out.

Until you get to a Point where the Water is Lost Faster than you can Put Water In.

Our bodies work similarly to this.

We need Recovery in Our Lives.

Whenever we Fail to have Recovery, we Gain More Holes.

What are the Consequences of this?

Well, there are quite a few.

For me, my body is starting to Ache.

My shoulders have hurt for the past couple of days.

My hand feels a bit Strained.

Motivation has Shot Down.

It can feel like Pounding Your Head Against a Wall to Do Anything.

Even finding something to Write About was a Struggle for me today.

This is also due to the Brain Fog that Grows.

The Brain does Not Function when Energy Stores run Low.

This is because the Brain requires a Large Amount of Energy to Function.

Even though the Brain is Only 2% of our Body Mass, it uses 20% of our Energy Stores.

Without those Energy Stores?

The Brain simply does Not Function as it should.

This is what happens with the Energy Trickle.

It begins to Impact Every System of the Body Negatively.

Now, interestingly, We are Designed as Humans to be able to Handle Low Energy Stores like this, though not for Long Periods of Time.

We can Utilize this to Our Advantage, or Our Detriment.

When we use it to Our Advantage, it works like a See-Saw.

You have Periods of Extreme Action, then Periods of Extreme Recovery.

It has also been called Counter-Balancing.

But the "Key" to making it work is "Recovery".

When Recovery is Ignored, it becomes Detrimental.

Those Holes Grow and Grow.

Until we hit Burnout, where the Water Simply Exits the Bucket, and the Body has to Strip the Bucket to Stay Alive.

What most people Do Not Realize is that Peak Performance "Is" Recovery for this Very Reason.

Anyone can Work Hard.

That is Fairly Easy to Accomplish, and Something we Latch Onto Easily.

But Recovery?

That is Where Few People take the Time to Focus Deeply.

It is what Often Separates those who are Good from those who are Great.

Those who are Good will Push Hard, and they Often Get Stuff Done.

But "What" they get Done is Always Limited by the Energy Trickle Impact.

Too Many Holes, Not Enough Energy.

But those Who Are Great?

They Fix the Holes that Build Up.

This Allows them to Store More Energy.

With More Energy, they can Use More of their Brain's Power towards Accomplishing Greater Goals

Over time, they Stand Out.

The Quality of Work they can Accomplish is Higher.

They Ensure that the Energy Trickle Doesn't Grow Too Much.

So, I Know What I Need over this Weekend.

A Major Period of Recovery.

I've Got Some Holes to Patch Up.

I've got to Counter-Balance toward Recovery.

Then, I'll come back Fresh, Ready to Hit New Heights.

Make sure that You Get Proper Recovery.
