We live in a World that is Obsessed with Moving Forward.
What is the Next Innovation?
What is the Next Award We're Striving For?
The Next Stage of Growth?
The Next...
The Next...
The Next...
We're always looking forward to Thing after Thing after Thing.
It feels like a Continuous Race, a Sprint followed by Another Sprint...
That Never Ends.
Every Marker We Sprint Past is just a Reminder of there being More Markers.
It becomes Insanity.
Every Single Marker that Meant So Much at One Time...
Begins to become Forgotten.
As We Push Faster and Faster into the Next Thing...
Each Marker begins to Feel Less and Less Important.
You begin to Question...
What is All of this For?
Will Every New Milestone Feel Just as Insignificant as the Previous that You Sprinted Past?
This is the Cost...
Not of Moving Forward...
But Forgetting to Look Back.
If we are Always Looking Forward...
We begin to Lose the Value of Everything We Do.
Why?
Value Exists within Understanding the Past.
When You Never See or Look at the Past, You Lose Sight of the Value of What has Occurred.
You Lose Sight of Wisdom.
Both Value and Wisdom are Only Gained through Reflection of the Past.
Without Seeing The Past?
You Cannot Value What You've Done.
You Cannot Understand The Value Of What Has Occurred.
This is How So Many People Lose Sight of Their Lives.
They Repeat Mistake After Mistake.
They Push for Greater Heights that Continue to Feel Meaningless.
It is because they Stopped Looking at Where they came from.
All of the Lessons that are Possible to Learn...
All the Value of the Achievements Earned...
They Do Not Have.
Sadly, Some People Never Gain.
They Continue to Push Further...
Push More...
Push Faster...
But Never Find the Value and Wisdom of their Past.
It can Happen So Quickly that You Do Not Even Realize How Much of the Past You've Lived.
I Know because Today, I took a Walk Down Memory Lane.
I went through some of the over 850 Articles that I've written since 2023.
I read some works of writing from the past Nine Years of Life.
I looked through Memories, Pictures, and Social Media Posts from the Past Fourteen Years of Life.
Some things were Good.
Some were Completely Embarrassing.
Others Reminded me of Struggles and Pains that I've Overcome.
There was a Lot that I had Forgotten.
So much that I have Said and Done over these Years.
It was a Powerful Experience to take the Stroll Down Memory Lane.
I saw Faces that I haven't Seen in Years.
Events that I Forgot I Went To.
Places Around the World that I Visited.
Accomplishments that Feel So Far Away Now.
It was Really Amazing to See How Much Life I have Lived.
It Reminded Me of How Much can Happen in a Short Few Years.
How much We Can Change.
Both for the Worst and for the Better.
There have Been Many Downs and Ups throughout the Years for Me.
I also Know there will Be More Downs and Ups in the Future.
But Seeing the Downs I've Overcome...
The Progress I've Made...
Despite the Odds and Challenges?
It Reminds Me that I have the Ability to Continue to Break the Odds and Challenges.
Seeing How Much I Have Learned Over the Years?
It makes me Excited to think about All of the New Things I'll Learn over the Next Few Years.
This is the Power of Taking Your Time to Look Back on Your Life.
All of it Can Provide Value and Wisdom.
