Written by a human, for humans, always.
It can feel difficult to do the right thing in today's world.
So often...
You will see that people are willing to do things...
That cause harm...
Directly or indirectly.
Worse...
Many people will seek out that which causes them harm...
And will even pay a lot of money for those things.
Then when you look at business...
You discover the belief...
That if people are willing to pay for it...
Why not make a profit from it?
When you look at the world from this perspective...
It can become very easy to ask the question...
Of what is the cost to do the right thing?
When you frame it like this...
It can make it appear that doing the right thing could cause you harm...
Could cause you to lose opportunities...
Could cause you to struggle financially.
But...
Perhaps there is another perspective to consider...
A reframe.
What is the cost to do the wrong thing?
See...
You absolutely can make money quickly doing the wrong thing...
But doing the wrong things...
Never works in the long term.
You can mask this for a few months...
Perhaps try to gaslight people into believing they are the problem for a few years longer...
But it never lasts.
Eventually...
People catch on to the truth...
Especially when they continue to struggle in their health and life in the long term.
Eventually...
They see how they are being harmed.
What is the cost of that?
You begin to lose your reputation...
Everything you built around that which is wrong will crumble...
Then...
You will have to face the consequences of having harmed others...
Many which are not seen directly.
If you are shallow and only pay attention to dollars...
You fail to see how the world around us becomes worse when more people are harmed...
Which then comes to harm us in things like degradation of communities, increased sickness, upticks in taxes, group burnout, and worse.
You also have to consider...
That when you turn to doing things wrong...
Subconsciously you know there is a time limit before you are discovered.
So...
You have to walk a line between convincing people of something that is not true...
And the eventual turning of the tide when the truth is discovered...
Meaning you have to always be ready to run and escape.
It is a subconscious and continuous fear that underlies everything you do...
Living in a perpetual fight-or-flight state of worry.
How long is left?
There is a cost to doing the wrong thing...
And it will come to harm those who do wrong eventually.
When you begin to look at the costs of doing the wrong thing...
You begin to realize...
That they are much greater than the superficial costs of doing the right thing.
Then...
You can begin to look at what is gained by doing the right thing.
When you operate in truth...
You have no need to operate in fear.
When people know that you can truly help them...
They stay around...
Continuing to seek out your help.
The conditions around you also improve...
Meaning that life becomes better, not only for you, but for everyone around.
It is a virtuous cycle that, when people continue to do the right things...
Continues to provide more and more for everyone involved.
What you begin to discover...
Is that there are no real costs to doing the right thing...
But you may have to reframe how you look at everything to see the truth.
