Take It Day By Day - The Ease And Difficulty Of Consistency

The Easiest thing about Consistency is that it is Consistent.

Every day you know what you are working on.

The Groove of it often allows you both to Save Energy (Mg-ATP) and simultaneously find Flow States Faster.

That Consistency often helps you Master Skills faster, and then go beyond Mastery to Sage.

With this Consistency also typically comes Innovation and Productivity.

But the Hardest thing about Consistency is that it is Consistent as well.

There are days where you really don't Feel Like it.

When you are running on 4 hours of sleep and nothing but caffeine and adrenaline are keeping you going.

You think about what you want to do and Feel No Inspiration, Nothing Grabs or Pulls at your Attention.

The time ticks down, second by agonizing second, with Nothing that comes to you.

There is a part of you that Knows that the only person keeping you Accountable is yourself, and no one else will care.

If no one else would care, why do you keep yourself to that Consistency?

You gain no status solely from being Consistent, and no one would blame you for taking it easy.

However, as Hard as these aspects of being Consistent are, they are also all Traps.

Sure, you may not "Feel" like doing something, but doing it is often what we need most.

Ironically, the "Feeling" of what we Enjoy in Life usually Follows "After" the Doing of Things.

There are days where do don't have everything that we would like, such as sleep, but as long as we "Do" Recover at some point then our Bodies are Extremely Adaptable for Short Times.

(If You are Not Recovering, then you "Must" get that First, otherwise "All" of your Efforts in Life will be Wasted).

What is better is that in the Consistency, our Bodies become better Adapted to Maintain those things we are Consistently Doing.

You may not Feel Inspired in the Moment, but we can often become Inspired by the Progress and Consistency we Maintain.

Much in the same way as Feelings, the Inspiration Follows the Doing.

If things aren't Grabbing or Pulling Your Attention, that is ok.

Often by simply Starting, whatever begins to come will Grab and Pull Your Attention.

Then of course there is the Accountability.

It is True that no one else will care, at least not in comparison to how much they care about their own Challenges in Life.

However, whether they care or not Does Not Matter.

The Only Person who's Thoughts Matter are Your Own!

When it comes to Accountability, you don't do it "For" Others, as it rarely works.

What you must do is to maintain Accountability for Yourself.

Psychologically, You "Do" Care if you are Consistent in your Life.

When we are Inconsistent, we Judge ourselves, and often our Self-Judgement is worse than the worse Critics.

However, in the Consistency, we Gain the Respect of that Judge within us.

If the Judge looks for "Evidence" of your failings, but you have none, the Judge has nothing to say anymore.

These Traps are also very hard to see because they are hidden a few layers deep, which is another Aspect of what makes Consistency Hard.

There usually is an Initial Payoff for a Lack of Consistency, but it becomes a Curse in the Long Run.

On the other side of it, there is usually a Price for Consistency, but its Returns are Significantly More than you can Imagine.

But the Immediate Reward compared to the Unknown Return is Very Difficult to Understand in the Moment, making it easier to pick that which we know.

Even if its worth is less than dirt in the long run.

So how do you approach Consistency?

What do you do about the Difficult Days that are Inevitable?

How do you overcome the Traps that exist over and over again?

Well, you start by not Focusing on "All" of it.

There is too much to wrap your mind around, and you will drive yourself crazy if you attempt to do so.

Then, you take things Day by Day.

Some Days will be Awful, and I mean Truly Awful.

It will feel like the World is Conspiring Against You those Days.

However, many Days will be Amazing and so much more Interesting and Amazing than you Realize.

Those Days make all the other days Worth It.

Until then, you continue to take it Day by Day, Moment by Moment.
