Facing The Fear Of The Future - Making The Choice To Not Live With Regrets And Fall Short Of Your Glorious Potential

Facing The Fear Of The Future - Making The Choice To Not Live With Regrets And Fall Short Of Your Glorious Potential

Do you know what the Largest Regret People Have on their Deathbed?

All The Things They Could Have Done...

But Never Did.

There is a List of things people have Chosen "Not" to Do with their Lives.

In some ways, that is the Norm.

Sadly.

How much Glorious Potential is Lost?

Daily?

Weekly?

Monthly?

Yearly?

All Gone in Mere Moments.

What happens?

What makes so many of us Turn Away from that Future that we See?

Often, it is Fear.

Fear drives so much of Human Behavior.

The Fear hits us, and we Flee from the Possibility of our Potential.

It makes me think about a Scene from Avengers: Endgame.

Iron Man is in his living room with his Wife.

He has made the Largest Discovery in all of History...

Time Travel.

With the Power of Time Travel, he has the Potential to Bring Back Billions of Lives on Earth...

Plus an Unknown amount of other Lives on other planets...

All of who were Wiped Out of Existence by the actions of the Main Villain.

So Many Lives that could be saved...

Yet, what Could be Lost?

Iron Man has lived in Relative Peace for 5 Years at this point in the Story.

He Married the Love of his Life.

Settled Down.

Had a Wonderful Daughter.

What else could he Need?

He is Fearful that, if he unleashes Time Travel on the World, he may Lose Everything Important to him.

He is Considering Giving Up on the Project of Time Travel, Destroying the Traces of what he has Discovered.

Just go to Bed.

This is when his Wife asks him the Deeper Question...

"Would You Be Able To Rest?"

She had an Understanding in that Moment.

Was the Prospect of the Future Scary?

Terrifying Even?

Absolutely.

Was there So Much at Stake?

Definitely.

If He Never Did Anything with the Discovery, Would People Have Blamed Him?

Probably Not.

Especially since he had experienced PTSD from his Previous Endeavors.

Yet, his Wife Knew that if he did Not Pursue this...

He would Die with Regret.

He would Never be able to Rest.

In some circles, there is an Exercise that People Do.

It goes like this...

Imagine you are at a Funeral.

You are Not Sure who is in the Casket...

But you Do Recognize Everyone in the Room.

These are all People who are Important to You.

You decide to Approach the Casket.

Inside you discover...

Yourself.

You have Died.

You try to Interact with Everyone in the Room.

But it is Too Late.

You have No Time Left.

You stand to the Side and Listen.

People say words about Your Presence in their Life.

What do they Say?

Do they Say Good Things or Horrible Things?

Do they Talk about what You Accomplished or what Always Seemed to Elude You?

What are the Final Things they have to Say?

Now, this Journey is Not Over.

After you Finish Listening to what they say, you move on to another place.

Here, there is a Glorious Individual in front of you.

So Familiar, yet So Different.

You get closer and you Discover...

This is You...

Except...

Not Who You Are...

Rather, this is Who You "Could" have Been, if you had Lived Into Your Potential.

How Close are You to this Version of You?

As you think about it now...

Will You Be Able To Rest?

Seeing and "Knowing" that this Version of You Exists?

Or does their Image Haunt You?

Here is the Thing about the Future...

All Possible Futures Are Scary.

Period.

Whether We Choose to Pursue Our Potential or Not.

It will Always Cause us Fear to Face the Future.

Why?

It is simply because...

It is Unknown.

We Fear that which We Do Not Know for Certain.

Whether we Go for Something or Do Not Go for Something.

It is Scary.

But there is Another Way to think about this...

Whether we Choose to Do Something or Choose Not to Do Something...

Both Result in Fear...

The Fear is Inevitable.

We cannot Run from it.

We cannot Escape it.

So, really Our Options are Not about Fear.

The Real Options in Front of Us Are...

Do we Allow Ourselves to be Ruled by Fear...

Or Do We Face the Fear with Hope that we can Attain Our Potential?
