Defining Your Own Success - Live By Your Interpretation

Defining Your Own Success - Live By Your Interpretation

What does Success Mean to You?

Let me ask another Question...

Are You "Sure" that is "Your" Definition of Success?

I ask because the vast majority of people have Never Defined Success for Themselves.

They have heard Definitions of success.

From Media.

From Society.

From History.

From Family.

Yet, are those Definitions "Really" Success?

It is Interesting to watch People "Chase" those Versions of success.

They Spend All Day.

Every Day.

Sometimes Sacrificing Every Other Aspect of their Lives.

Just to Attain a Version of success that Others have Defined.

The Result?

The Vast Majority of the Time, Nothing Positive.

They Attain that "success" and Feel Hollow.

Empty.

Worthless.

Despite having "Attained" that success.

Then, they Figure that the Reason they Feel they are Hollow, Empty, and Worthless must simply be because they Haven't had "Enough" success.

So they Keep Chasing.

Keep Attaining.

Keep "succeeding".

But at the End of it All?

Nothing.

They are like Hamsters, Running on a Wheel, thinking they will get Somewhere New.

Destined for Failure.

Even as Others "See" their success.

Sing of the Wonders of their success.

In some cases Worship them for their success.

They still Feel Hollow.

They still Feel Empty.

They still Feel Worthless.

The Reason is that they are Chasing Definitions of success that are Not Theirs.

When you Chase success that is Not Yours, you'll Never Find True Success.

You will be like a Dog that chases a Car.

Maybe You catch the Car... But what then?

The Dog is Unable to Do Anything with the Car.

Even when Every Other Dog in the World is Amazed that You Caught the Car.

What is it Worth?

What is its Value?

Nothing.

What would the Dog be Happier With?

A Bone.

A Good Human.

Comforting Petting.

Maybe a Warm Fireplace to Lay Next To.

Each Dog has Slightly Different Preferences.

Just as a Dog, so too do Humans have Different Preferences.

Just as we have Different Preferences, we should Also have Different Definitions of Success.

Now, just because we have Different Definitions of Success does not mean there are no Similarities we can use to help us Define Our Success.

For Instance, when you look at Human Psychophysiology, you Discover that we are Wired, by Design, to be in Relationship with other Humans.

Now "Relationship" in this context does Not necessarily mean "Romantic".

Many people have No Romantic Relationships, yet have other Extremely Successful Relationships.

Many people have Many Romantic Relationships, all of which are Tragic.

Relationships are beyond Romance.

It also does Not necessarily mean "Quantity".

Many people have only Few Relationships, yet those Relationships are Meaningful.

Many people Know "Everyone", but have Nothing Meaningful with Any of Them.

If they Asked Everyone they "Know" for Help, they would Receive Nothing.

In Relationships, Quality is more Important than Quantity.

In being Human, Relationships are Important to Success.

But we can also look at other Definitions of Success.

We all seem to Naturally Seek a version of Value.

Now, "Value" does Not Necessarily Mean "Money".

Lots of people Chase Money.

Many of them Get Money.

Few of them Receive Any Value from that Money.

Value is Beyond Money.

But Value can also take Different Forms.

There is Value in the Work we Do.

Do you Find Value in your Work?

We can Find Value through Acts of Creation.

What are You Creating?

We can Find Value in Knowledge and Wisdom.

Are you Obtaining Knowledge and Wisdom?

Perhaps most Important though, we as Humans Find Value in our Own Growth.

Where are You Growing in Life?

There is Much More to Defining Your Success than everything we've walked through thus far.

However, the Key is that "You" must Define Your Own Success.

It Can, and "Should" Look Different than Others.

Define Your Success Today.
