Are You Ready For The Unexpected? Having The Freedom To Handle It With Gratitude

Today has been an Interesting Day.

Woke up...

Started the Day Strong with a Wonderful Client Coaching Session.

Then?

I had No Plans for the Rest of the Day...

Except to at some Point Write an Article and Run at Least a Mile...

Things that I Do Every Single Day...

Writing Daily Articles for Over 1,000 Days in a Row as of Yesterday...

And Nearly 500 Days of Running in a Row.

But Mostly...

I Planned to Relax.

However...

That is Not how My Afternoon Went.

What Happened?

I got a Call from My Wonderful Mother...

She was a bit Distraught, which is Uncharacteristic for Her.

I had Her Slow Down and Take Her Time...

Apparently...

She was at My Younger Brother's Cross Country Meet Today...

And Lost the Key Fob to Her Car.

Now, to Understand the Challenge...

You have to Understand that My Mother is an Amazing Source of Encouragement when it comes to Sports.

At a Cross Country Meet, You Run a Few Miles over the Course of the Race.

What Does My Mom Do?

She Scouts Out the Course Prior to the Race...

Finds the Best Pathways to Get to As Many Places on the Course as Possible...

And She will Sprint Between Points to Get There.

It is Truly Amazing to See Her So Frequently When Running a Race...

But...

Not Great when She's Running Around through all sorts of Different Terrain and Does Not Notice the Car Key Fob Fall Out of Her Pocket.

Which Brings Us to the Problem...

She had No Way to Get in Her Car...

The Course was about an Hour Away from Her House...

And She, along with my Siblings, had been Searching for the Key Fob Around the Course for a Good Chunk of the Day...

Before Calling Me.

She Could Try to get Her Car Towed to a Shop...

But the Places She Could Take her Car would Not be Able to Do Any Work Until Monday...

And She Needs Her Car for Monday...

And She Would Still Need a Ride Both "Back" to Her House "And" Back to the Shop whenever the Car was Ready.

Which left Her Final Hope Lying on Me and My Spouse being able to Run to Her House...

Grab the Extra Set of Keys...

And Drive to the Course so that She and My Siblings Could Make It Home with the Vehicle.

So...

My Spouse and I Just Got Back from about a Four Hour Trip to Accomplish All of This...

And I'm Thankful for My Spouse's Quick Thinking which Actually Saved Us a "Lot" of Time.

But Here's the Thing...

How Many People are Able to Do that for their Family?

I Understand that I am Blessed to be Able to Handle this Very Unexpected Situation...

There are So Many People who are Working...

Who have Tremendous Stressors in their Lives...

That Cannot just Go at the Drop of a Hat to Help Out their Family.

It Got Me Thinking...

Are We Ready for the Unexpected?

Life will Throw Situations at Us that We Could Not Prepare For.

It "Always" Happens.

Have You Designed You Life to Handle those Unexpected Situations?

Most People are Living the Life in Such a Way...

That When the Unexpected Comes...

It Throws their Entire Life Out of Center...

Chaos is the Result...

Stressors Accumulate...

And At Some Point...

Most People Simply Hit a Point Where they are Either Forced to Give Up...

Or They Break.

But...

It Does Not Have to Be Like That.

It is Possible to Design and Build a Life Where You Can Handle the Unexpected...

Where Your Family Can Call You for Help and You Can Simply Go...

Spend Hours and Money to Help and Be Unfazed...

Even Grateful that You are in a Position to Do So.

To Design Your Life like That...

It Takes Time...

Requires Work to Get There...

But I can Tell You that the Freedom to be Able to Handle the Unexpected with Gratitude...

Is Well Worth Everything Required to Get There.
