Written by a human, for humans, always.
There is an old phrase of wisdom...
All good things take time.
Now, that is how the phrase goes...
But many people do not truly understand what it means...
Or if they do...
They fail to live it well.
Typically, they fail in one of two ways.
Either they use the idea that good things take time...
To excuse themselves from doing anything and therefore never make progress...
Or...
In their desire to reach the goal that they believe is good...
(Which is not always so)...
They try to hasten the process...
And in their rush, they destroy their ability to attain what they seek.
In order to obtain and move toward what is good and fulfilling in life...
In truth and not as is desired among the masses...
It requires you to both drive forward...
While figuring out how to maintain your patience in the process.
Some people think of it like a balancing act...
And in some ways you can look at it like that...
But I think we might find a better idea concept in how a tide acts.
It pushes forward...
Drives hard...
Then retreats...
Waits...
Recovers...
Before it drives forward again.
A rock that sits in the midst of the tide begins strong...
Jagged...
Daunting.
But over time...
As the tide comes over...
And over...
The rock begins to smooth...
To lessen...
Until it is eventually swept away by the tide.
The water accomplishes this simply by following the flow of nature.
It does not seek to work faster or harder...
It finds what is natural...
It puts in effort when it is at its strongest...
And it recovers afterward.
It is also in the act of the tide going in and out...
That quickens the erosion of the rock.
If the rock remains in the open air or deep in the ocean, it is able to maintain itself more easily.
But simply by being in the midst of the coming and the going of the tide...
The rock erodes faster.
In the same way...
If we do not work toward our goals at all, the rock remains in the air...
But if we are overconsumed in our goals, the rock remains underwater.
It is only in discovering how the tide is designed to work in our goals that we begin to make progress.
We must discover that process...
Then remain living in that process...
Maintaining it...
However long is required as you move toward the goal.
When you find patience in the process...
You will also discover something else that most people fail to find in life...
Peace.
There is the rock, but the erosion of the rock is not what brings peace.
At some point...
The rock disappears...
And there is nothing left but the memory...
And the memory does not sustain.
Rather...
It is the tide itself...
The coming and the going...
The process that you must go through to move toward the goal...
Which is what brings fulfillment...
What brings peace.
This is the secret within the secret.
We often fail to move forward because we fear how things will change...
Or we push further because we fear not obtaining the goal and the consequences...
But in both directions, we fear and are left without peace.
But only when we truly live in the process...
Is peace obtained...
Are goals attained...
And the growth that fulfills us is found.
All things in their time.
